"Volunteer for a special temporary service of a secret and hazardous nature"
Not exactly secret or hazardous, however Project Zero is seeking volunteers to help research and record the role of airships in Wales during the Great War from 1916 to 1918.
As a volunteer, you will receive free training in archive and record research, digital recording of images, field surveys and map-based studies of the airship stations. Join other members of the project on visits to associated collections, field trips and exhibits. Contribute to a global online community of historians and researchers to help retell the tales of the men and women who served a hundred years ago to defend the coasts of Wales from the U-boat menace. Volunteers are also required to help develop a 'pop-up' museum exhibit, based on a reconstructed Zero class airship control car. Project Zero is a centenary partner with the Imperial War Museum and is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
